okay... my answer is based on the information from 2007... but i am guessing that it hasn't changed much
I worked in customer service for verizon
the warranty is actually from a different company.. and there is a co-payment with that warranty of $50
and, when they get your phone & take it apart & see the evidence of water damage... then it is likely that the phone won't be covered..... but, in the event that they do cover water damage these days
then the next answer would be... they will send you a rebuilt phone that is the same version as the phone you have now... they might even rebuild your current phone.... and they will have you mail it in and allow 30 days
you only other option is to go to a Verizon Wireless store that is a direct store & not a verizon wireless authorized dealer... pick the largest Verizon Wireless corporate owned store in your area.. and ask the store manager if he can offer you a rebuilt unit rather than you having to wait on another phone
If you go to a different phone, then you will pay the retail price and it will extend the contract that you are on
You will not be able to up-grade using your warranty.. only as a contract extension & with your paying for the up-graded phone.
