I'm out of shape but I'm going to change that, and in a few months, my goal is a 45 mile round trip on a bike. I am sure about the directions, and I'm going to print out a map, but I am unsure about how many hills there are. I expect to cross at least one mountain.
I only have two BMX bikes. Both are good, but very different.
1 Being a Haro Backtrail X3 (2005) and it weighs about 30 pounds, has a small sprocket, off road tires. I usually rode this bike when I was in shape for most of the time. Its a very solid bike. Didn't go very fast on it though, due to the small sized sprocket.
2 Being a bike that I put together myself. It has the frame of a Haro Zippo, the handlebars, forks, headset, rims and sprocket of a Diamondback Venom. Overall it ends up to weigh about 40-45 pounds, very sturdy and rides smooth at high speeds. Hills suck on it though, I'll admit that. A heavy bike, large sprocket and gravity all together aren't fun.
Never found out for sure, but I remember being able to ride to a top speed of about 45 mph on this bike. I wasn't able to measure it but I was able to ride side by side with my school bus on the way to school.
I am also 16 years old, almost 17.

The question is, which bike would you recommend using?
Sorry I forgot to add that back in.
