I want to play compatabile movie files from my External HDD on my DVD-DIVX player via the USB port .
The DVD player works fine with PEN-DRIVES(tried uptil 4 GB pen-drives, no problem).
No i wish to bu an external HDD(preferrably the portable type, 500GB).
I heard that if u format the drive to FAT 32, it should work fine.
My main doubts are:
1)Will the Ext HDD work on the DVD player(atleast if i make it FAT 32 formatted)?
2)Will the size (500GB) be a problem?
3)I heard from the dealer that portable HDD tend to burn out the USB ports of Laptops and PCs(in the long run) as they draw much larger power than Pen-drives....and further he was saying when connected to the USB port of a DVD player, although the HDD will be recognised, the DVD players (being designed to support Pen-drives and not HDD) will very easliy burn the USB port or even their internal circuits
