...killing cows, chickens, and pigs? Okay, so people are making a big deal out of the recent news that this one guy killed 100 sled dogs. This one guy argues that people shouldn't get so worked up over it, because people kill cows and chickens and pigs and etc. everyday.

What can I say to refute his argument?

Thanks Yahoo! And RIP to those 100 sled dogs.

For the most part cows, chickens, and pigs are killed humanely. Some of those sled dogs had horrible and slow deaths. Besides cows and chickens are killed to be used. There is some purpose to their death. Those dogs were killed because their owner was lazy and didn't want to spend time and money finding them homes after he was done with them.

Refute his argument by pointing out that animals taken to slaughter are killed quickly and efficiently, to minimize any suffering. This is considered to be more humane.

This fella in the news who killed all these dogs did not know what he was doing and caused these animals to suffer a great deal before dying. Also, I wonder how much of an effort was made in relocating the animals to adoptive families or agencies were made before he decided to euthanize them.

The cows, chickens and pigs were killed to support human life as complete protein foods to be eaten by humans. We do not eat sled dogs. For what purpose were the dogs killed? killing for sport is not the same as to kill to nourish and sustain life. All animals do that. The dogs were apparently, killed for sport, which is totally senseless and immoral.

i agree with jenny, BUT, in some countries its ok to eat dogs, so it WOULD be ok. but im assuming this was in alaska, if im right, i know its not ok to eat dogs there, but the point is, you will never get a "for sure" answer because people from other countries can answer this question and say its ok. but no, i don't think its ok!

It's very true. the only difference is when it is someones pet then that would be upsetting.
