My grandmother passed away a month ago. My family is Jewish and we are having a service for her tomorrow. I want to read a poem, but I can't find anything online and in the poem books that I have. I tried to write my own poem but I got choked up and couldn't think of anything. If anyone could find a poem that would be great.
Thank you.
I have looked on so many websites on the internet and could not find anything. I went to at least 20 internet sites and I could not find anything!

One of my favorites, by Robert Frost.

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Sorry about your grandmother. I don't know if this will help you or not, but I tried! :) It's called Grandmother. I liked it, and since it was your grandma who died, I thought it was good for you. So here it is:

We had a wonderful grandmother,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful grandmother,
And that' s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She's still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let's make sure
She will like what she sees.

Go on the internet and find something short and sweet that would work for your Grandmother. Don't try reading anything long. That way you will be more apt to not choke up and start crying. I can't find one for you because I don't know anything about your grandmother.

This isn't a poem on line, but you can use it if you like.

Through out the years I have watched you smile,
Your warm embrace, your tender touch
Days are filled with love and happiness when I see your smile
Now my heart cries because I have lost you, I know I will
always hold you dear to my heart
I will embrace the memory of your sweet smile
And carry it though out the years with me
I'll miss you dear grandmother, for I will always remember your sweet smile.
Sleep peaceful now, and remember my smile will always be with you

1. Few people come into our lives
and make everything shine,
but you're one of those
rare and splendid jewels
who makes the whole world bright.
When I was sad, you made me smile.
When I was alone and blue,
you were there for me,
and you made me feel strong enough
to accomplish anything.
Because I appreciate
the many things you do,
more than words could say,
I'm sending you the Candle of Love,
and hoping you receive
many blessings from above.

2. Grandma, you're my
heavenly angel!

All that you are
is what I aspire to be.

You're home, love, warmth,
and everything good.

Your arms are always open
and ever ready to shelter me
from harm.

Your heart is ever full of love;
your words are ever full of hope.

And I want you to know,
how much I appreciate you
and your unsoiled wings.
