Premonition, spirit making contact or freaky coincidence?

Ok this is something that happened last year but I've never really gotten to the bottom of it.

Well for starters I've had paranormal experiences for my whole life (as far back as I can remember anyways) but this one was different.
Every night for almost 6 months I heard the same name repeated in my dreams over and over. Not just a first name but a full name. I won't say the full name I heard, only that the first name was Shaun. I got annoyed by the constant repetition in my sleep so I decided to do some reasearch and, after contacting the library and having a local historian check further into it. It was revealed that the name I heard was the full name of someone who died in my house 7 years before I was even born. I never heard the name in my sleep ever again after I found out what happened.

So what do you think? Some sort of vision? A spirit trying to make contact? Or just a coincidence? I was reminded of what happened while answering a question on here earlier so I thought I'd see if anyone can offer an explanation for it.

People/parents do mean things or lie to manipulate. They just want the reaction so they can get high feel good from it. The words are not true. You can talk to me or Google "Emotional Abuse" and see all the definitions and see its all true. Knowing the truth is the step to freedom from pain. They are the ones who have problems not you. They are weak.

When you have a bad past/rejection it lets other things start. Cutting, OCD, Anxiety, panic attacks, hearing voices can all come from a tramautic past. Its opens doors to the negative and they start to dwell closeby. Hurting people also hurt themselves.

Realizing you were really abused and they are the weak ones is the 1st step. Then later praying and realizing whos stronger (you/God will) stop the negative forces who are at work.

Well I would ask you if these dreams where the name was spoken to you we scary, or just perplexing or what were you feeling while dreaming and hearing the name?This is a big clue to whether this is benign or malignant.IF you felt okay and maybe just a little perplexed and annoyed cause it happened so often,then I would say that your instincts to research the name were correct,but you have been (for lack of a better word) spirit sensitive for a while, so you already know the answer to your question you just aren't confident of it yet and rightfully so.
Being sensitive and arrogant does not work and the gift can be withdrawn if abused.( Humility Reverence and knowing how to just not say anything to everyone about this neat thing that you can do )etc,. etc........However, I think you are asking for confirmation .
This spirit spoke his name to you because of a few things.#1. You're receptive to spirit world so you were/are accessible.#2. You share an intimate common and that is you both reside/resided in the same "home".
And probably most importantly #3. This person feels forgotten by the living..... Those that knew him, his family etc. probably don't, for instance, pray for him or speak of him much any more.Saying his name to you is like extending a hand for a hand shake. IF you were not afraid of 'him' BUT were/are more or less just curious and feel compelled to find out about him (telling you his name brought results about some one who had once lived in the house) then do the lad a favor, .........say a prayer of peace for him. Speak it 'aloud ' and say a prayer acknowledging that you 'heard him 'and 'recognize him' as some one that used to live there. IF, you can do that, and do it comfortably,I know it will help this 'forgotten' soul feel much much comfort and validation.....From the experience you describe here
I don't think you have to worry about him playing 'tricks' on you in the house,IF,he does( don't allow another spirit energy trick you into thinking that 'it' is him person you already know(the dude that once lived there). Speak to him out loud, and by name, to 'please stop what' he is 'doing because it makes' you 'uncomfortable. Tell this spirit that you are not used to that kind of behaviors of the ghostly realm, because you do not dwell there. Be polite yet firm. That should do the trick. They only know what we say to them out loud. 'They' can 'talk' to us in dreams, if allowed, and they can manifest their energy and reveal themselves to us, but, and I repeat BUT, ghosts cannot read our minds. Speaking out loud to them is a MUST if you must 'talk' to them. And don't hesitate to tell a ghost that is making a ruckus, doing unsettling things, to "Stop"! because what 'it' is doing is "scaring you" and it will stop, because mostly all spirits of the dead, do not know that 'it' is scaring the person that can see, and or sense them, and they do not desire to scare the living. Once they know that you are uncomfortable with them making their self known to you, they back off. It Is totally different for demonic spirits, the procedure for understanding their behavior and what governs them etc. Those are a whole different ball game, nonetheless still very real. I am sure you have had your own run ins with the demonic. IF you haven't, because of this 'gift' ,you will. Remember, sincere prayer is the key. Asking for understanding, for protection, for comfort, of your Heavenly Father is the most Important thing you can do for yourself and your spiritual gift. He is the Ultimate Teacher and He will teach you, and open your eyes to understand of these things, if , you allow and ask of Him. Do not seek the occult or occult formula (tarot cards, Ouija boards, mediums and such) because #1 You're spiritual gift is from God and there is absolutely no need this stuff, you can do what is to be done with out it.and #2 It offends the greatest spiritual teacher of all, God. and God is all you need. He wants us to Seek His counsel in such matters and of all things spiritual. Don't fear but ask of Him as if you were a little child wanting to know an answer to something, with sincerity and expectation. If you can do these things, I know that you won't be 'misled' or tricked or possessed or feeling attacked and abandoned or puzzled. Your eyes of understanding will be blessed and you will learn more and more as you become more worthy of this blessing. Good Luck, God Bless. I am a member of The Appleton Paranormal Society.
To further explain what you might have experienced I will throw a couple of things out there for you to maybe help you out.
Often reports of paranormal activity occur in places that are linked to a disembodied entity who was very attached to a place or to a object in a certain place.
In this case the household.
Now here are the key factors: Was Shaun the owner of the household? The son of the owner? A resident? A tenant?
What happened to him, did he die IN the home or he just lived there at the time he passed?
Have you found any items linked to the family that previously lived there, or even a belonging that might have been Shaun's aside from the household?
Take a good look in your basement, attic and crawl spaces...usually remaining objects from previous owners remain in places like those as forgotten.
The happenings may have stopped because that disembodied entity finally achieved it's goal, which was to make contact with YOU and being aknowledged by you.

Good for you,you did the right thing and did your research,often times when a person dies by a tragic death their spirit can remain behind.Maybe the spirit is trying to make you aware of it's presence.Sometimes they attach themselves to a house or to the land.I lived in home where a man had lived in the basement of the house,he ended up committing suicide in the garage by exhaust fumes while he was sitting in his car,when my son was young,he use to have all of his toys and video games in the basement and he would run up the stairs and say mama,I heard a man's voice say hello,when I would do the laundry in the basement,I too experienced this.It got to the point where I said out loud,look you are welcome to stay and be a part of our family but I don't want you scaring my little boy,after that on occasion,I would still hear,hello.I wasn't scared of the presence.What you could do is to get a tape recorder and try and pick up any electronic voice phenomena that is taking place.Just run the recorder and ask some questions,like what is your name,why are you here,then you can tell the spirit that this is your home and it's time to go into the light.Give it a try,and see if you can pick up anything.You are going to get a lot of skeptical answers on here from people that have never experienced this kind of phenomena,until they do,they won't be believers.Hope this has been of some help to you,try and see if you can get any evidence on the tape.

I think it may have been a purposeful event, not sure why or how though.
maybe theres more to it then just knowing his name.
there may possibly be more to this shaun then you think?
try contacting it, or put a camera in your house in the most active room you think.
you never know :P
