Problem with BMW iPod interface?

I have the OEM, factory installed iPod connector cable in the glove box of my 2005 M3. I've found a few cases where the iPod becomes "stuck" - I'm listening to a track and when I go to switch the track, the number changes on the header unit (I have the standard header, not the Nav system) but the same song plays. When I turn off the car, the iPod stays on and the play arrow continues, vs. when the system is working the iPod pauses and shuts off. To fix the problem, I have to pop my iPod out, do a hard reset of the iPod, and plug it back in. Has anyone seen this problem? I have a 30GB iPod Classic that I bought about 2 1/2 years ago and the iPod software is up to date.
