I bought my computer, an HP Pavilion Elite m9425f, in December of 2008. My computer has worked fine since then, with few problems. Recently, however, there's been a problem with my Lightscribe DVD SuperMulti Drive/ Cd-Writer.
It started a few weeks ago. Whenever I inserted a disc, it would be ejected moments later. I just pushed the drive back in two or three more times and it would work fine. But this afternoon, while playing the Sims 2, the game crashed (it was odd as it has never crashed for me before). I ejected the disc and put it back in. Nothing happened, so I went to My Computer. It said that no disc was inserted. I tried loading up the Sims 2 again, but it told me to insert a disc. I tried many times after with other discs and DVDs, but to no avail.
I've been reading on the internet about others who have the same problem as me, but I'm not very good with computers and I don't understand how to fix it. My computer is still under warranty, but I would prefer not to bring it in. Is there anything I can do do fix it without having to buy a new drive? (As I stated before, I'm not very good with computers so simple explanations would be much appreciated)
