As someone raised as a Jehovah's Witness, I still suffer from nightmares and deep seeded guilt and fear for leaving that faith.
On the other hand, I am also an avid hobby astronomer and historian, that has some serious reservations about the group.
Over the past year I have read a lot of things about what may happen in 2012, and have also come across some interesting facts that support the hypotheses of an impending dooms day.
In the end, I do feel that a lot of this boils down to what one is willing to believe. From Nostradamus, to Mayan Calendars, to religious teachings etc. etc. it seems that something is up. It is odd to me that so many different sources seem to all point to a calamitous Armageddon in 2012.
The advertising campaign for a supposed human survival lottery, via the IHC, is rather odd. But on the other hand, given what has been predicted, is it really so hand to believe for something like this to actually exist? How can so many different sources all come to point toward 2012 as terrifying end?
If in fact all of this is just one big plot, how come these predictions came from ancient cultures, which were obviously not trying to pitch a movie? Is it really all just one big plot to deceive? Or are there actually any truths among what seems to point to a cataclysmic end in 2012?
I am posting this same question under different categories, so as to be able to draw a wider array of reply.
Now despite the controversial nature of my question, I would truly appreciate some intelligent replies to my question. If all you can do is leave a ridiculous comment, that (just) you happen to believe is actually funny, please be so kind as to refrain from posting anything at all. This is a serious question, and I am looking for some intelligent replies.
Please know that I will have no problem reporting inappropriate replies.
