In high school my girlfriend took me to a Pentcostal church she attended. There were two ministers leading the service. While preaching, one started speaking in tongues. The other had the gift of interpretation and said someone was to receive a prophecy. The minister speaking in tongues came down the aisle and put his hand on my shoulder. My girlfriend nodded and gestured toward the alter. I went forward with the minister and kneeled with him. While continuing to speak in tongues, he started crying, and the interpretation was that I would one day be a great spiritual leader. That was 40 years ago, and it hasn't happened yet. Do you think he might have been wrong, do I have to be more patient, or something else?

Well, this wasn't a true prophesy from a true prophet.

The first problem I find here is that a prophesy was given in tongues. If you read about the examples given in the Bible about tongues, you'll find that nobody is prophesying while speaking in tongues. Tongues is used to give praise and testimony to God. It's really about past deeds, not about future ones. I'm highly critical of the misuse of tongues because it's so easy to do and so common.

However, this was 40 years ago. If you are a Christian, what have you done with your life and what have you done to redeem your time. You're accountable to no man, only God. I don't want you to answer my questions... at least not to me, but for yourself. Take it up with God.

Men can plan your lives for you. You can plan your life for you. Or, you can choose to let God reveal His plan for your life. What's done is done. If a man says that you'll be a great spiritual leader... if this is truly of God, what are you doing about it? I'm not saying that one should work in the flesh and make it happen. But, you should be seeking God out about His plans for you.

Man cannot know his own ways, for God is the one who directs your steps. Who knows, you may become a great spiritual leader yet. Then again, you may already be one and not know it. Keep in mind that what man thinks is great is not necessarily what God knows to be great.

He was wrong and you need to find a sport to play or something.
