PS3 controller not working?

I have a brand new Playstation, the slim one with 120GB. I've been using it for about a week and the controller just became completely non-responsive. Yes I've charged it, for about 5 hours. I've tried pressing the PS button and the reset button at the back. It doesn't work when it's plugged in.

You just might have a defective controller, if you have gone through all the steps to try and fix it try the ones ROCKY stated a good few all you can do is take it back and get a new one.
