PS3 internet connection probem using a wireless?

I own a ps3 and have some internet connection problems. I guess the signal is just not strong enough. The ps3 is downstairs whilst the internet router is upstairs so I guess that's where the problem is coming from. What should i do?
It is wireless (the router)

Hey, I find that the closer you put it to the routor the better( of course)

Personal experince like 5cm made me and my wireless work PERFECT... before it was in a box and didt get a good enofe signal
