I am studying abroad in central China, and in the marketplace they always have a fairly large amount of puppies. They are all the same breed, and sold for only 8 yuan (equal to a mere $1 American). These puppies are frequently sold out of trashy, styrofoam boxes which look like empty take-away boxes, and they are abnormally obedient(do not bark, do not leave the box , etc.).
** I think these dogs are likely from puppy mills, but I am not sure. What do you think? **
It really makes me sad, because I picked one up and it snuggled up against me, and gave me little bitty puppy kisses......
