question about edgar allen poe?

what was he known for as a writing style again? was he the one who wrote hte more scary stories or gruesome or something? i cant remember, but i know he was the one who had a style people seemed to love, if u guys could help me out by telling me if he was or wasnt the guy im thinking of thatd be great

Edgar allen poe is my most favorite author.I live in the city he died in.
He's definitely gruesome,and some of the things he writes about are just...i don't even know how to explain it. Like,when he writes about gruesome things, or humans doing something bad against another human,it's like he's writing about pure human emotions.When he writes about fear,for example,it just seems like he's writing it as it should be.He's my hero
