Before you buy anything do plenty of research into the subject. Marine fishkeeping is more difficult than freshwater fishkeeping, especially if you know nothing on the subject. Marine fish come from an environment that hardy ever changes in terms of chemistry, this makes them somewhat intolerant of sudden or large changes in parameters such as pH, salinity and temperature. In the relatively small volume of an aquarium it is harder to keep these parameters stable. Marine fishkeeping can also be very expensive, and you will have to spend between £200-£300 on extra equipment required to care for the fish properly. I would suggest that you start out with freshwater fish and move onto marines once you have learnt the basics of fishkeeping. I would also recommend that you join a good forum such as www.ocean-wonder.co.uk/messageboard or www.fishforums.net.
