Question on a Spanish greeting...?

Why do Spanish speaking people say "bueno" when they answer the phone? i've seen this in a lot of videos in my Spanish class and in workbooks and other places. Why do they say "good"?

Bueno really has to meanings for us spanish speaking people when we answer the phone we just use it as hello.

Bueno is a Mexican Style to answer the phone, but it shouldn't be translated as good, in other countries people say "aló", "hola" an so forth. It's just answering the phone.

They say this because one it’s a habit, and because is a form of letting the other person know that there someone on the line.
