Why is it that humans are never depicted as being holy and divine like Gods, and simply are waiting to ascend?

Why are we always considered to be out of the "Divine Plane of Existence", and that once we reach the "Spiritual World" we're pure?

Why is it that humans are always the ones who are punished, or tested, and must live and die before they can reach the "Immortal Plane"?

An answer with the description given to you by your religion, lack of religion, or point of view would be great.

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day.

P.S. I'm an Atheist. Living life in wonderfully and knowing I'll exist forever in my actions and choices that effect the world, whether or not there's something after this. I believe in a heaven and hell on Earth, and that the choices we make shape this world for the better... or for the worse.
Ah, but every time you shine a light into the sky, does it not radiate out and affect the universe? Does not every radio wave fly outward and hit something? Does every action affect another action?

Who says we won't spread ourselves among the stars and galaxies of the universe?

Also, our sun won't go super-nova anyway, it's going to become a Red Giant.

I'm asking because I'm curious and only 17-years-old. There's always room for change and I don't have as much experience as people who're older than me.

No you won't live for ever, in 5 billion years our sun goes nova, no more earth

I am theist and it is my belief that we are Gods teachers
we experience things for God
we are part of the God energy
we are not lower or higher than God
we arent punished or tested .. we are simply here to experience life

Eastern Orthodox Christianity teaches that:

We are not out of the "Divine Plane of Existence", but rather can undertake this divinisation (not to be confused with divination) and be the "Partakers of the Divine Nature" - as Paul describes it, by reaching and experiencing the Energies of God., that purify and sanctify the soul and help it reach theosis, another word for constant union with God, otherwise known as salvation for the Orthodox Christian, for salvation must be based on love towards God, and imitation is never the cause of anything, its always the result of something, therefore our imitation of God is the result of our Constant Union with Him through "constant prayer", as mentioned many times in the Bible.

Humans are not the ones who are punished, they bring the punishment on themselves by not realizing that sin is not a crime to be punished for, it is a sickness to be healed from, and that after Christ's victory over Death and Sin, there are no 'slaves to sin', there are only 'willing servants" to it, furthermore we must live and die because our souls are attached to our earthly bodies. The Spirit is connected with the flesh, as long as these bodies are alive by the Grace of God, it is upon our death that the Spirit detaches itself from the sluggish carriage of the body and reunites itself with God, no matter the place of it's reunification, heaven or hell, because both are eternal states of God's Love.
