sooo, i just got back from walking my dog. everything was fine, until i walked past this house and heard dogs barking behind me. i turned around to see 3 large dogs running full speed and barking at us. i didn't know what to do, so i picked up my dog and walked faster. they didn't stop and they followed me halfway down the street before their owners called them back.

10 minutes later on a completely different street, guess what happens? 2 more dogs come running from their yard and do the same exact thing. they barked and growled while trotting behind me. i heard someone yelling, so i turned around and this guy was running towards us. he grabbed the dogs by their collars and dragged both of them back to his yard.

irresponsible pet owners piss me off. is it really THAT hard to keep your dog(s) confined to your property?

anyway, sorry for all that... just needed to rant. lol. now for the question: does it bother you when people let their dogs wander and roam around off leash? what would you do if a dog full on attacked YOUR dog while on a walk?

Yes, it annoys me very much. Especially when the dogs just jump over the fence and the owners see nothing wrong with that fact.

If another dog attacked one of my dogs, I'd be ready to throw down. I usually carry pace and a stun gun with me though, and I'm thinking about a 9mm

I had this happen when I was only 11 yrs old. I am now in my 30s and it still bothers me. In my case, the dog attacked my beagle/basset puppy that I was walking. I picked my puppy up and tried to run from the dog. This was a mistake. The dog jumped on me (trying to get my dog) and bit my lip. I had to have 13 stitches. My dog ended up with internal injuries on had to be euthanized. The dog that attacked was a shepard mix and I was the 2nd person that had this happen to them. The dog was taken away by the shelter and put in quarantine for 10 days for rabies observation and then euthanized. I still feel bad about the dog being euthanized due to not being the dogs fault. I was not trained and socialized. I was a dog that grew up in its backyard without any attention.

Ya if you dogs runs off of your property keep them tied up. People keep your pets controlled

Over here in the UK it doesn't happen quite as much as most people here have fenced gardens, but if it did then I would go apepoop. Totally totally irresponsible.

BYB's you do live in UK don't you, in fact you mention you live on the edge of the forest. I am up the M3 and often head your way for homechecking.

Any of us "could" have the odd accident where one of our dogs got out so not saying it would never happen, but generally I would not keep dogs in a yard without a fence and expect them not to go anywhere.

I feel the same way letting loose their vicious dog isn't healthy. They should keep them inside and train them. And it's mean to pick them up by there collars which can lead to choking.

I hate that too. My dogs stay mostly in the house most of the time. When they need to do their business they are in a fenced yard and someone watches them. I take them on walks with a leash.
I know my dogs will run after a cat, squirrel, or car...that is why I keep them under control.

There are too many people who let their dogs get free run. They think that they can control them by voice...great if you can but if you aren't with them it doesn't count.

There are a lot of dogs in my neigborhood, luckily most are fenced in.
