Reasons you should wear a helmet on a bike or motorcycle?

I have to do any essay on why helmets should be worn with a bicycle and motorcycle.
I need 3 reasons: so far I have that it keeps you safe and it really doesn't inconvenient a person to wear one.
I need help with a 3rd reason though.
Any ideas?
 
Is it against the law in your state to ride a bike without a helmet?

It serves as extra protection for the skull and or brain in an accident?

It's a good example for younger children. All little kids should wear them because they have a greater chance of falling off and hurting themselves. If they see older kids and adults wearing them, they might be more inclined to.
 
because the makers of the helmet more often than not make cool designs on the helmets that will pertain specifically to the age group they are hoping will buy it i.e. if they want young children to buy it, they put McQueen and Dora The Explorer on it, if they want teenagers to buy it they might put the name of a popular band etc. etc.
