So I had to design a study for my research methods class, and I ended up designing an experiment on animal communication in rats. I can't actually carry out the study on any professional or valid level, but just out of curiosity, I'd like to try it with my pet rats. To do this I need to find something to take their high-frequency calls- around 50Hz- record them, and preferably bring them down to human audio range, though I guess that's not absolutely necessary. The study I designed uses bat detectors, since that's more accurate and all, but is there a cheaper hookup I could do with a computer and a mic?
Oh yeah, important detail I forgot. When I say record, I mean record them in a way that I can analyze them on the computer. Look at the actual readout and all that. Not just record to be played back.
