So heres the deal:
I want to get tattoos at some point in my life. Not sure how many, but I am interested for sure.
On the other hand, I am a follower of god. Now, I don't follow the bible to the letter; there are too many contradictions and the fact that it was torn to pieces by the council of nicea and god knows how many translation issues make it rather stupid to take it all literally and lawfully to me. However, I do respect it in the sense that it is a good 'guide'.
Heres where my problem begins: There is a passage in the bible that states that one should not tattoo or mark their body in any way. I don't recall if it's the lord actually stating that or if it was someone else, but either way, it has held onto the back of my mind for some time.
So, I want tattoos, but I don't want to do serious disrespect to the wishes of my creator at the same time. What do? Or thoughts?
Having done a little quick research it rather intrigues me how many christians don't think much of it at all, so that is one thing to consider.
Now, another thought along with this is that I've considered Henna, which is temporary and good for ones skin. I could change the design any time and have designs I like redone regularly. My issue though is that it takes exposure to sun (when first applied) to make the image work. While if done properly I'd only do that for a period of maybe 30 minutes in direct sunlight every few weeks, I consider skin cancer and other conditions related to that...Any thoughts on that too?
