My homework project this term is to choose a religious festival from Christianity, Sikhism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism or Judaism. I have to produce a 'booklet describing and explaining this festival in detail.'
I also have to bring an item for the presentation lesson that I have made myself and represents a part of the festival I have studied for the booklet. I then have to explain why it is important to the religious festival.

Any ideas for good festivals and items? I thought it might be useful to get some other peoples views...
;D thx in advance

Ratha yatra is an interesting one in the Hindu faith - statues of the deities are taken on parade through the streets. The English word 'juggernaut' comes from this as it relates to Sri Jagganath and the carts transporting the statues.

Islam = Eid ul fitr (celebrated after Ramadhan) and Eid ul Adha (at the time of hajj)
Christianity = christmas (jesus was born)
Sikhism = holy (festival of colour)
Hinduism = diwali (for a fresh new start)
Buddhism = wesak (buddha was enlighted)
Judaism = rosh hashanna (celebrated for a fresh start. they eat honey and apple coz it purifies their past)

im not sure which one you can choose but a good one can be eid ul adha because there is a long story behind it i.e. when the Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) was going to sacrifice his son....
i dont think i helped much but im not that knowlegable on many religions except Islam.
