say YOUR religion is absurd? Without the 'god' factor, everyone's religion is absurd.

The idea of going to a magical place where you live forever is absurd.

The idea of talking snakes and donkeys is absurd.

Can you see how your religion seems absurd, if the only observing it does not believe in your god?

I'm a Southern Baptist. I never call other people's religion absurd, and I don't care whether anyone considers my religion absurd. All those whom God calls will come to Him, and that includes many who formerly thought He was an absurd figment of human imagination.

But of course, I do not go around telling people that their beliefs are absurd. I am religious, and yes, my beliefs likely seem absurd to others. As for other people's beliefs, I do not like to denigrate other belief systems or the deities and/or rituals associated with them.

Hmmm.

Well, you say you address your question to the "religious," but I notice you provide examples only from Judaeo-Christian belief systems.

But I think you're wrong when you say that others declare other belief systems absurd. I think that people reach their conclusions on religion through entirely rational means; what they believe makes sense to them.

To me, the only truly absurd decision on religious belief is non-belief. Humans seem to be designed to believe in something, to seek out a creator. It's a Universal question, and one that the vast majority of the world's citizens have addressed and arrived at some form of belief -- from the most illiterate to the most highly educated.

As a Christian, I believe that the only way to be reconciled to God is through faith in Christ. However, that does not mean that I look down on other belief systems.

Of course its absurd! If it wasn't absurd it wouldn't be faith! What people don't understand is that every view is absurd no matter what it is. Even life itself is absurd. Why does anything exist? The idea of evolving is absurd as well...would people who believe in that say it is? No they wouldn't. But i'll stand here and tell you as a Christian that all beliefs of the origins of life are absurd. However, that doesn't make them false. That's where people are lost. Logic exists in religion, but the dominant factor is faith. Thats what people today lack and its why the world is sending itself to hell.

Yes it is weired. I agree. But, these things are metaphors for everyday life. It is supposed to tell a story or teach good values. I consider myself christian but also believe that all religions are actually based on one thing. Good vs. Evil. They were all made to show people what is acceptable and right in order to keep humanity humane. Chew on that.

They are not absurd to me, but I can see how they might be absurd to someone else. Some people are less open minded, more judgemental, have less tolerance for other ways of thinking/living.

But I'm not Christian, so I don't believe in Heaven, or talking donkeys and snakes. Religion is not synonymous with Christian.

no only to the people who reject God is it absurd

To those who believe God it is fact not fiction
