Removing DVD ROM DRIVE HELP?

my dvd rom drive which uses pata is broken. bought an sata drive to replace it. mobo supports both. currently i have 3 dvd drives installed. computer wont start after removing broken dvd drive...HELP!
my old broken drive is still in my computer. since it wont start without it, it is still plugged in. thats why i have 3 optical drives right now. 1 is broken, 1 is the replacement, and 1 is the burner which has always been there

Possibly because one is set for slave or master or the boot settings in the bios is first looking for the cd drive you pulled out
There are little jumpers on the back of standard IDE CD Drives that need to be correct if connected by the same ribbon. SATA doesn't use this method.

One drive needs to be master and other a slave or use cable select on both drives connected to the single ribbon.

Change your BIOS default IDE drive boot order to boot from Hard disc not CD ROM.
