Easy. Text the word STOP to the 5-digit number that the texts came from (or if you have the bill, the second column where it lists your purchases will have your 5-digit short code to text to). That's it. That cancels it.

Tell your dad not to sweat it. He can call AT&T customer care and inquire about getting a refund on those charges. Can't say 100% they'll do it, but it worth a call. Also he can inquire about adding a purchase blocker to your line to prevent future "surprises".

My advice - if anything online asks you for your cell phone number - DON'T ENTER IT. These things happen all too often - you will get charged.

I'm in bit of a pickle, so help is MUCH appreciated!
I just got a cell phone a month ago, so I got all excited and decided to get a ringtone. I thought that I could download free ringtones online onto my cellphone since I can download free songs onto my computer.....
Well, the phone bill just came in, and my dad was fuming.....apparently, I'd spent $30 more than the normal fee. I really don't want this to happen next month, what do I do to stop this monthly fee thing from the ringtone website(s)?

What happened (exactly):
I clicked on one of those 'get this song as a ringtone' links
a site popped up, asking me what phone service I used (I use AT&T)
then the site asked for my number. I gave my number....
then it sent me a text message, saying some random things about monthly fees that had NEVER been mentioned before I gave my number
I deleted the text message
I didn't really realize what it meant, but it was too late...
I hadn't gotten a ringtone, either, so I decided to try another site.
And now, I spent $30 on those two sites without getting anything out of it!

Please tell me how I can cancel these monthly fee things!

PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!!
