When I was a kid, my class went on a Field Trip to where the New York Yankees trained at the time, and I had the flu. They came back with a whole bunch of memorabilia for me since I missed it. One of the things was a Roger Maris 61st Home Run Commemorative Flip Book.

Has anyone ever heard of it? I looked online, but I can't find anything about it. I spent a lot of happy times with that book; I thought it was really cool (it was! Its a flip book!). Now a family member is getting married to a guy from NJ, and he loves the NY Yankees. Since I'm not really a big fan, I thought I'd give it to him as an engagement gift, since I really have no idea what to get him...Not that I have to, but we're Italian and it's part of our culture.

Anyways, if you can give me any info on this book, like how many copies there are and things like that I'd appreciate it, as then I'd be able to tell him a little more about the thing. :)

Thanks.

I would take it to an antique dealer to get the book appraised, which would also get you the full story about the book. It sounds like it may have been an "in-house" promotional item that the Yankees would distribute to young fans, which may make it a pretty nice item, even in the depressed sports memorabilia marketplace. Yes...way back in the day, it wasn't all bobbleheads!
