Samsung eternity won't let me set tones made on my Mac as ringtones. MP3 Encoding

help? The "set as" button is disabled.
Is there any other way to compress files and use them for ringtones?
Audacity and LAME didn't work for me. It said it could not open encoding mp3 blah blah blah. Help!
Any free! encoding programs?
