..."prophecies" of Ellen White? I've read Ellen White's "prophecies" related to her sabbath afternoon "solar system travels" where she sat in her parlor and went into "trances" where she visited each of the planets and gave minute by minute reports to those present. Her descriptions of her experiences on the surface of each planet do not at all correlate to what recent NASA spacecraft have sent back to earth as photographs and sensor readings. Why the differences?

And do these conflicting reports lessen your respect for Ellen White as a prophet? Does it comply with the Bible's pronouncement that anyone claiming to speak for God as a prophet should be stoned if they are proven false? Or was she speaking in some other capacity that was not prophetic?

[And yes, I know that there are many SDAs who have no special reverence for Ellen White as a prophet.]

But was Ellen White a false prophet -- with the aforementioned examples providing evidence?

I'm not a 7th day Adventist, nor have I ever heard of Ellen White. But according to your descriptions in this question you expect pictures of NASA to be completely accurate, compared to that of someone who was in a trance? If you've ever actually seriously studied spirituality and and space travel, you would know that throughout the ages people have traveled to different planets and even stars through meditation. You can say oh this is all made up, or fictional, or even drug induced. However there are plenty descriptions from several different tribes and medicine men and yogis who have very similar descriptions of the same places. completely different from the NASA photos I might add. These planets according to the travelers who have been to them are on different levels of consciousness or different planes of existence than what we perceive or understand. So to actually say this women is wrong, you would have to qualify yourself by going through the same process and method that she went through or that others used to get to these places and see if your description matches with theirs. You can't expect a camera in a satellite to take a picture of a higher or lower plane of existence and get something viable out of it, because it don't have consciousness, and in order to experience these planes, you have to be in the right state of consciousness. A good book to try to understand the meaning of what I'm saying is Easy Journey to Other Planets by A.C. Bhativedanta Swami Prabhupada. There are many other sources from other cultures you could study as well, just investigate the Idea. Science offers us some answers to some things, but it will never be able to answer everything.
