Sharp Blue-ray bd-hp21u firmware update?

Sharpusa site now has firmware updates. I've been waiting forever. My Dvds work fine, but it stopped playing Blue-rays a few months ago. It just seems to hang after it loads. I'll try the firmware upgrade today. Any other suggestions?

I would bet you have a hardware issue, likely the laser assembly "blue" laser or sensor failed or dirty.

If it were firmware, you likely would get a "firmware not compatible" screen.

It won't hurt to try a firmware update though.

I would try a complete power reboot, and see if Blu-Ray discs you know have played before, play now.
If they don't, you likely have a firmware problem.
