Should I buy a car at this time?

Okay I am a college student and by the end of july (the end of my summer job), I will have about $9000 in my bank account. I was wondering if I would be a good decision to buy a used car that is under $7000. This would leave about $2000 for maintenance during the school year. I was looking at Mazda's 3's, pontiac G6, honda civics, and chevy cobalt's. If I do get one, what should the mileage be for each car and what is a good year car to buy? Also how much will my insurance go up (My parents have allstate and I am 18, but I get the good student discount)? Do you believe this is a good decision for me right now or should I wait until next summer?

If you don't "need" a car right now I'd say continue to save your money and get a nicer car when the time comes. Keep looking though take your time. The right vehicle will "pop" out at you. Other wise go Honda.
