Should I buy a manual or automatic transmission Volkswagen GTI?

I'm a 16 year old buying my first car, and am fairly good at driving a stick. I drive 40 miles total every day to and from school, and traffic can indeed be an issue in Detroit and on the freeway. Which one should I go for?

I say u go with the stick you will always be cool with one and u can always get better but only of u have love for driving one especially in a VW it's like y would u get that type of car and its not a stick.

You must buy a manual. You cannot afford a GTi or any VW for that matter with a reliable automatic as they are 2005+

Traffic isn't bad, I commute to school and work from outside Indy to downtown 4 days a week at the least. You get used to the work and after a while you don't notice it.

Get a manual, duhhhh!! there's no other way to go on a GTI. If you were going to buy an auto, I'd say just buy a rabbit or something.

Also you'll be getting better mileage (not by a lot, but enough to mention)
