Should I get a cell phone or a Nintendo DSi?

I have a choice: I can either get a cell phone or a DSi. I really want a cell phone, cuz I can talk to my friends and text and stuff, but it will be really expenssive. But, the DSi would only be a one time payment. Either way, I have to earn the money myself. So... Should I get a cell phone, or a Nintendo DSi? (I really want to play the new Pokemon game, Pokemon BLack version).
 
cell phone will be better in the long run
 
I would buy the cell phone because you can do a lot more things on a cell phone then on a DSi.
