You can mention it but they really could care less. It doesn't increase your trade in value. You will get much more money for a down payment if you sell the vehicle yourself. Often times with no trade, you can negotiate a better price on the car your trying to purchase. That is why they usually ask you if you have a trade before beginning negotiation on a vehicle purchase.
