Silly question. Why is it when you are washing up the dishes....................?

If there is something already in the bowl such as a plastic beaker or babys bottle it always finds its way directly under the tap therefore soaking you in the process!
Its gotta be a sciency type reason but I dont know why!
Come on you clever peeps.
