I purchased some frozen smoked pork hocks. Does smoked mean they have been previously cooked? If they are cooked, this can speed up my preparation of them for this evenings meal. Thanks for any assistance.

smoked does not always mean cooked. you can smoke meats withut cooking them, its called cold smoking. smoking is done indirectly which means there is no heat involved. you can tell if the meat is uncooked my the way it looks. if it is rubbery it is not cooked. if it is smooth yet has whats called smoke rings where if some of the skin is brown and other is dark pink, than it is cooked. just be careful though pork hocks dont really have any life threatening bacteria in them if not cooked properly.

trust me im a chef from louisiana i know how to cook!
