SMS: AIM to cellphone?

So, what I usually do everyday is texting my bf though AIM to his phone. I've never had an issue with it before. Then yesterday I sent him a message and I got a status message back saying, "The other person appears to be currently offline.". I've never had this happen before. Now I can't even text him from my AIM anymore.

Can someone help me figure out the issue?
