So im trying to lose weight for college basketball; thinking vegetable diet..?

So im 18 male and heading to college august 14 and basketball season starts around september october... I am a great player but i had an injury and got out of shape over the past 3 years. I currently weigh between 290 and 315 no exactly sure and im 5'10". I want to get down to around 200 before season starts Thanks for the help ahead of time.
