An excellent article.

I was fortunate to find a very informative tattooist in Porthmadog who gave me lot information, both before and after he did my tattoo.

Having spoken to other people with tattoos, good advice seems to be patchy.

In my book, you can't beat personal recommendation.

booked in for some more work next week and picked up a new tip from the guys in the shop last week when i got part of mine touched up...

try 'Bepanthen' cream... its nappy care ointment , it forms a long lasting breathable barrier and it's the best stuff i've used yet... no scab's form at all and in four days its healed.

the guys have been recommending it for the last few months now.

worked a treat for me

Bepanthen is the go. Maybe your tattooist is a little behind the times, Xen, because my wife and I have been using the stuff for years - never used anything else.....

well, he's a good bloke, but does come accross a little 'primative', shall we say

for those in the UK, you can get 'Bepanthen' from Boots.

Take your english writing to a chinese restaurant and get it translated .... then verified by at least 3 other chinese people.

That's exactly what I did for the 5 I have in chinese writing

It's hard to get an exact translation. Sometimes you'll have variations etc depending on who you ask. Best to ask as many as possible, as long as they don't mind

The guys in my local chinese were saying once how much they wee themselves when big tough guys walk past with chinese tatts and obviously no clue as to what it actually means

Chinese character tattoos for aesthetics really pee's me off big time! Ive asked a few people with them why they picked it and the normal responses are:

"It looks pretty"
{{In macho, toughman deep voice}} "It says Honor/courage/Bravery"
"dunno, just did"

Which are pretty dumb reasons imo to get a lifelong piece of art.
