I have just purchased a new 500gig internal drive to replace my very small 40 gig one. I don't really feel like individually backing up every personal document, and having to then reinstall all my software, and included licenses. (Have quite a few plugins requiring keys for alot of my software). My only option is to back up some how directly to DVD. I only have about 5gig free space on the old drive, do not have a large enough USB drive, and being a small form factor desktop, I am unable to have both drives in at the same time as there is only one connection for one hard disk.

So is there any software out there that will allow me to burn a clone of my hard disk straight to DVD's that I can boot up and copyeverything as is to the new drive once it is installed, like companies do with "recovery" disks. I was going to use Norton Ghost, but that says it can only do HDD to HDD copying, and only some sort of "recovery points" using DVD, and I must admit I was a bit confused asto what burning DVD'susing that method was actually doing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am aware of items like USB adapters, just that it is not an option at the moment. But thank you for the suggestion.
