Software uses numpad, Laptop doesn't have one?

I'm using a program where you can't change the key bindings but it requires the numpad. My laptop doesn't have one. Is there a way to change it so that I can use the number keys + shift to input the ascii numpad values?
I'm on a Pavilion dv5 running windows 7.
