Something similar to the Chevrolet Aveo?

I need a new car. Basically, my old one is nothing more than a money pit, and being a college student, I don't have money to just throw away.

I was looking at the Chevy Aveo [LT] and I might possibly be able to find one in my price range [which is somewhere near $5,000] if I keep looking hard enough. The only problem is, some people say it is unreliable and that it too will turn out to be a money pit.

What other cars are similar to the Aveo in size and style? [Also in price]

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is the Aveo really that bad??

Yeah, basically anything GM makes is crap and the money pit problem will happen to you all over again. I would recommend a used civic or corolla if you can find one for 5000. Or (I hate to say this because I have had bad experiences with Chrysler and GM) look at maybe a Chevy Cavalier or Pontiac Sunfire.

Basically its hard to go wrong with a Toyota or a Honda. And being on a college campus myself I could attest that a lot of people drive civics in college.
