Sony Ericsson Message Alert?

I recently bought the Sony Ericsson W350 cell phone. When I would recieve a text message, it would appear on the home screen. Now when I recieve a message, I have to go all the way to my inbox. How can I change it back so the message alert shows on my home screen?
