sony ericsson xperia x10 screen replacment?

hi, i have a sony ericsson xperia x10 smartphone, and my screen has a crack in it, and is covered in scratches, and i want to get rid of the cracks and scratches and want the phone to look new again. i am a bit confused on what to replace, do i need to replace the digitizer or the LCD screen? or are they the same things ,i really don't understand the screen on this phone, can somone help me please.
