Alright, so I have been thinking about buying a bike for a while now. I have a lot of dirtbike riding experience so I don't think it will take much to get the hang of it. But I don't want to start with anything to big at the moment. I found a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250, for $1800 and am thinking about buying it. I like that it's great on gas, and is inexpensive.

Is that a fair price, if not how low should I negotiate?

Am I to big for it? I am about 6'1, with an athletic build. about 205ish.

I dunno how people can ride on a two wheeled machine with their legs kicked back and hands in the air with all the wind resistance all over their body but a crotch rocket is more responsive, pulls u out of dangerous situations faster, and handles better.... anywho... 250's are slowww man... I have never ridden a bike before and I started on a 600... it's all about your throttle and clutch... and knowing that you're not supposed to be hauling ass until you actually get the right feel for ur bike... and yeah they're right people do post higher prices than they expect cuz they plan on negotiating or selling it for way more than they actually expected...

Always try to negotiate a price...Most people set prices a little high with the intent of negotiating a final price.

As for your build and the size of the bike...yeah...the bike would be small for you. You're going to be pushing that bike hard when at highway speeds of like 75 mph.

Hunter, since when is a crotch rocket more dangerous than a chopper? Choppers by design are more likely to be involved in a car accident.

And to the question, try and get it down to $1500 since you can buy a 2010 for around $3500.

i agree with raider you could prolly get it down to $1500 and hunter is an idiot but it depends on what you want the bike for if u intend on long rides on highways try for at least a 500 because a 250 will wear out really quick if u run at higher rpms from my experience a ninja 250r runs at about six to seven thousand rpms at 65 mph so if you plan on interstates I'd get a 500cc also be aware that a lot of ninja 250's have carb issues and leak gas onto the plugs so they need to have spark plugs switched out quite a bit (i do it my self and keep the old one because they still work just fine once they are dried out) other then that 250's are great little bikes fit for any size im about your size and loved mine even got it to top out at 110mph hellz ya

crotch rockets are very dangerous compared to a chopper. to me thats a great price for a 2003 ninja. but it depends oin its shape. and ive seen some fat tall guys ride rockets so im sure youll be fine. though i do advise a chopper or something louder instead. (:
