ST: What are some Frat pledging stories you know?

Again. Fraternities are much more than drinking and partying. You just see that because other things are very secret and sacred. Get a clue man.

I have also pledged a frat like you, and it was 1 week before I would have become a brother when I dropped out... why? For me, I consider hazing to be... hell week, camp out, light poles, flag poles, h-poles, PT, etc. I know several of the things that are "sacred" and trust me... frats aren't worth it. You are ignorant, especially since you're just a pledge and still don't know MOST of the stuff they consider "sacred"

Oh, as far as pledging stories:
Hell Week: A full week where you have to sleep at the house, do a whole bunch of things for brothers, stay up until 6:00 am doing pushups, sit-ups, etc. and go vandalize other frat houses.

Camp Out: A night where brothers and pledges go out camping, run, do pushups, do sit-ups, and a bunch of other retarted stuff... and you can't sleep.

Light Poles: Run to a light pole in the backyard and back into the house... then repeat the process 10-30 times.

Flag Poles: Run to a flag pole in the front yard and back into the house... then repeat the process 10-30 times.

H-Poles: Run to a light pole in the main parking lot of the school that's about half a mile away, and back 1-4 times.

PT: Staying up all night doing push-ups, sit-ups, light poles, flag poles, h-poles, etc. all night... usually 4 days a week.

If you can find a fraternity where you don't have to do a bunch of useless **** like this, then more power too ya, because with a frat, you get to drink a lot, hook up with a lot of girls, always have a place to chill other than your dorm, always have people to hang out with, etc... it makes it really easy to meet new people around campus, not just within the frat, but people around campus at the parties you'll throw. Without all the useless shit like mentioned above, I would have stayed... since most of the fraternities do this kind of stuff... I think you'll be hard pressed to find a good one to join.

Read my other post. Hazing is pretty non-existent on my campus and on many of my friend's campuses. Sucks that you had to experience that.

lol, that is true.

I guess I'm one of the few, I had a blast in high school and love college even more. I don't need some fucking frat controlling what I do on campus.

Don't drink the kool-aid anyone.

seeing how you refuse to admit that not all frat guys are douche bags id say you probably tried to get into a few and got denied by all. i see you posting in sooo many threads on offtopic so clearly you have ALOT of time and nothing to do.

I average 10 posts per day. I must have a shit ton free time on my hand.

I have never tried to get into a frat because I want to create my own college experience. You are also 16, therefore anything you say from now on in this thread is completely useless.

I did admit not all frat guys are douche bags if you could learn how to comprehend sentences. Most frat guys are douche bags, however. Here, I'll even find the and quote from where I said I have met a few cool frat guys.

oh, there it is. I can link it for you too if you still don't understand.

some of you are so ridiculously sour about fraternities...some fraternities are huge assholes, but you can't generalize them. I was hardly insecure when I came to college, but I decided to join a fraternity with some friends, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

As far as hazing goes, you shouldn't technically be allowed to talk about it, but stories make their way around. The puppy thing still exists here, last supper still exists here, lineups still exist here, etc. Some of the stuff is ridiculous, and doesn't promote the betterment of a fraternity, but some things bond pledges/brothers

Basically, stop knocking fraternities if you the only thing you know about them is that some fraternities are assholes because you try to get into them and when they won't just give you beer, you get pissed. Who do you think pays for all that beer? For big parties, fraternities here go through 50+ cases in one night, which has to be paid for somehow

Kid, I have been here since 2004 but I'm not gonna pick the "join date" battle with you. It's called college. I don't have class till 1 PM 3 days out of the week so it allows for a little free time in the morning.

If you get accepted to any college (other then the community college you will probably end up at) then you will understand there is something called "free time."

I'll argue with you later if you want, I have class for a few hours then work, and then a meeting with my Comm 110 group.

Fuck, I hate having so much free time.

your posts from one account doesn't carrie over to another so you being here since 2004 means nothing. and ive been here at my sisters college for the past week so yeah, i know people have free time, my sister has friends so usually shes out doing something with that free time if she isnt doing homework.

btw my grades arent bad at all and i could probably get into a pretty decent college.

on a side note, anyone thinking about college who has good grades i seriously suggest tulane this place is great. and everyone here in new orleans is chill so you can get into any bar under age.

I was in a fraternity at my school, and it wasn't as bad as people think. Did they yell at me during pledging and tell me to do stupid stuff? Yes. Did I do the stupid stuff, sometimes. If they ever told me to do something that I felt hurt me as an individual, an athlete, or a human being, I replied with a hearty "F Off". What are they going to do, hold a gun to your head?? No, they want you there and they want you to complete the process or you wouldn't be accepted as a pledge.

As a member, did I harass the pledges? No. Did I let them in on some little secrets to make their pledging more tolerable? Yes. And you know what, they all respected me for respecting them.

So a blanket statement calling all frat members douchebags, is a bit over reaching. I think the level of douche runs consistent throughout all levels of college student.

This is the funniest post I've read all day.

If I were to sink so low as to pledge a frat, I would take it as a compliment to be rejected by disgusting people like them. Being in a frat is nothing to be proud of. Paying money and subjecting yourself to degradation so you can have friends and get date rape pussy is not a talent. It's fucking sad.

edit: this is, of course, referring to what was deemed to be "frats" and not "fraternities" because there are obvious differences.

Not bitter. If people want to subject themselves to that kind of absurd behavior they can go ahead. I just want nothing to do with them because they disgust me.

Hey buddy, guess what, we don't want you either.

My university carries a heavy anti-hazing policy so all of our fraternities have had to shift away from hazing entirely.
If you think hazing is stupid / retarded / degrading- armies across the globe have done it successfully for hundreds of years

My one roommate is in Phi Delt and the other is in Beta.

From what I've gathered, Phi Delt is a fucking joke (at least at WVU). They don't have a house, and have NO pledges this semester.

Pickle Walk- Stick a pickle up your ass and walk for a certain distance. If the pickle falls out at any time you must bite the tip of the pickle, re-insert and continue to walk the distance. (pickle may fall out several times)

I understand that, but the whole idea of a "fraternity" is a brotherhood. I can see how college frats have degraded the whole idea of the fraternity into a dumbshit party house, but it wasn't always that way. There are true fraternities that genuinely care about their members personal virtues and honor, and it's unfair to classify them anywhere near the frat party houses.
ie: the Freemasons, Independent Order of Oddfellows.
