Thanks. :D xxx? Hi I've literally just picked up my new guitar. I want to get in to it, does anyone know any good tutors/teachers on youtube? I've come across martyzsongs and he's amazing. Any more like him? I can't even play chords properly yet, any ways to get really good at them?
Also I like these genres of music - rock, like linkin park, enter shikari
acoustic, like charlie simpson - cemetery
pop, like adele,
r'n'b, like tinie tempah
and many more!
Only genre I seriously hate is country, which is what most beginner guitar songs are. I need inspiration, help I don't want to give up. :/

This should teach you everything you need to know :) Did for me, and there's a part 2, 3 and I think 4 that follow on from this :)

And you can easily type in songs into youtube followed by lesson, and something is bound to come up :)

good luck :) xxx

I have two, these were the first I learned: "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day and "Whip It" by Devo. Both are pretty easy when you get the rythym. The guitar is one of the hardest instruments to learn, but NEVER give up hun, it's so rewarding :) happy playing!

Try What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club. Very simple, and I think was the first one I learned :).

Bob Dylan and some earlier Beatles songs can be simple. Sometimes Folk songs can sound very similar to country songs but some classic rock bands like Guns 'n Roses or The Animals have done cover versions of folk songs so they don't sound exactly the same. Here are some songs I started out with:
Toothpaste Kisses- The Maccabees
House of the Rising Sun- Bob Dylan (also covered by The Animals)
Knockin' on Heavens Door- Bob Dylan (also covered by Guns 'n Roses)
Baby, It's You- The Beatles
Here Comes the Sun- The Beatles
Hold You in My Arms- Ray Lamontagne
This Boy- James Morrison

ultimate-guitar.com is a very helpful website that will teach you how to play chords and tabs to songs you want to learn

Learn scales, seriously. I've been playing for like 7 years and the worst thing a guitarist can do when learning is NOT learn scales and chords. Start with simple songs, but fun ones:
Warning - Green Day (simple and easy to learn)
Under the Bridge - RHCP (sounds complicated, but it's pretty simple if you just do the chords)
Rolling the Deep - Adele (there's a really good Linkin Park cover that makes me wanna learn it, and it's REALLY simple)
Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet (fun and simple).

hmm, i started guitar recently (well, a couple of years ago xD), and i suggest you learn Come As You Are by Nirvana, really simple, and really fun to play xD
im guessing you have an acoustic or classic guitar, i started with electric so i dont know whether these songs will sound that good without distortion, but you could also try learning Highway To Hell by AC/DC or Back In Black (also by AC/DC), or Rock You Like A Hurricane by Scorpions, or maybe Let It Be by The Beatles, which doesnt need distortion

you can find tutorials for all of these songs all over Youtube, cause they're all very popular for beginners :)

Hope i helped! :D

Smoke on the water is the a very simple song I think, it is also a good song to learn basics as you can use power chords as well as singular notes. Highway to hell - AC/DC is a simple song; it is all power chords and is pretty easy to learn. When you get a bit more proficient, She sells sanctuary - the cult is a great song, has chords, some power chords and great little riffs. Beast and the harlot - Avenged sevenfold is a good song to learn, not technically difficult but the rhythm may be a 'lil tricky. The solo is definitely saved for a later date! Hope this helps. Learn a few scales as well, try to use all four fingers and a guitar tab book would be a good purchase. Hope I have helped :)

Linkin Park has some pretty easy guitar parts. When I was starting out, I lived on 911tabs.com
