I want to figure out how to rate my intensity level for the stationary bike. Everything I read just gives low, moderate & high, which is great but how do I determine that? I think I'm working out at a moderate intensity but isn't there a mathematical way to determine that? For example today I rode for 4.58 miles in 20 mins. Is there a way to use that information to determine what level I was working out? I've search everywhere but I can't seem to find an answer. Help! Please and Thank You! :)
I should have mentioned this....I can't use heart rate as an indicator because of a drug that I'm on that lowers my heart rate. :(

What you do today and feel is hard may be moderate a month from now. The best way to determine how hard you are going is to use a heart rate monitor. I bought one for training on my stationary bike and it helps a lot. I start out with an easy 10 min warm up and keep my heart rate low. After the warm up and gradually increase my heart rate until I get to 85% of my heart rate max and keep it there. It's the fat burning zone and I can do it for 45-60 min no problem. The last 10 min I crank it up to my heart rate max to help build muscle.

Low Should be very easy to pedal just warming up

Moderate You should be breathing a little faster and able to maintain that pace for a long time.
You have it right if you start sweating after 15 min or so.

High You are breathing fast but can still talk but not sing. If you run out of breath or
legs start to hurt lower the resistance and keep going.
