I've taken lessons since I was about 5, but I got my first horse 2 years ago, and just recently ( about a year ago) started to really learn about horses. You know, like you know how to "ride" but you don't know the first thing about how to teach the horse how to do something or how to saddle. I mean I've learned and everything, don't worry, I've learned a ton! But I still want to know more. I've learned all the right ways of training and I could go on and on, but I just wanted to know some of the things you people who have been riding longer have come to learn.
Also, I'm not sure what I want to do as far as events. I'm a western rider and I trained my horse for barrels and poles, but now I'm looking for a step-up horse, only I don't know if I should get a faster barrel horse, or look for more of an all-around horse. Just through ideas, i'm interested! Thanks so much!
