Switching my current cell phone for the iPhone in Verizon? Can I?

I have the samsung galaxy nexus and i realllly want the iphone..is it possible to switch phones? I have a two-year contract. the iphone 4, 8 GB is free with a two-year contract but the full retail price is about $500, would it still be free if i switch the phones or..? I'm a bit confused on that. Should I go to verizon or call them and ask? thanks!!
 
Ah, another teen is being to figure out just how the real world works.

Switch with who?????? Who can buy a new phone at FULL retail, then use that phone. You will NOT get a Iphone for free, you might be able to sell your phone at loss.
 
if you are not in your upgrade period you will pay full non-contract price for the iphone
