TEENS: Is this an interesting topic?

I have a 10 page junior research paper due in April.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED an A on it.

We can do the paper on any topic, we just need to make an argument.

I'm doing it on: Are ATTRACTIVE people treated better in society?

Is that a good question to research? My teacher is a man so idk if my topic is interesting enough. (My friends are doing things like should abortion be illegal, should kids get tattoos, is facebook destroying teens, etc)

well i mean arent attractive people treated better in society..
i dont think you would be able to expand on that topic for 10 whole pages
keep thinking

I like it a lot myself. You can certainly go in depth with it. You could argue from both sides, present facts on the topic, examine what traits make people attractive to other people and why, etc. It's plenty interesting and it's unquestionably a concern, even today in 2013. Good luck with your paper.

No, it is not a good topic, here is why.

1. It is too broad, and not specific enough at all. What does "treated better" mean? Does it mean they are more sexually appealing, does it mean they make more friends? does it mean they get paid more? does it mean they will get more attention from the opposite sex? or more attention from their parents? You need to specify how they are treated differently.

2. What does attractive mean? Are their faces just naturally more appealing? or are their faces closer to the golden ratio (google this)? For a girl, do they have bigger breasts, butt, or lips? are their hips wider and waist smaller? Do they have a certain eye color? For guys do they have broader shoulders? are they more muscular? do they have a more defined jaw line? eye color? There are just so many features that can be called attractive.

3. This argument will be very different for men than for women, and you will have different arguments and counter arguments for each one. For example, as a woman, who is physically attractive, there is more social opportunities than for less attractive girls, and attractive girls tend to have more friends. For men, looks might not benefit them as much in some aspects of life, but more in others.

Overall, your topic is very broad and ill defined. There is a lot of uncertainty, in what you designate as your focus for your paper.

I would pick a topic, perhaps to do with the effect of the magazine models on eating disorders in teenage girls? Or something more defined.

I think that's good, the other topics are too typical. For our persuasive essays, we're not allowed to do abortion, anything drug related, legalization of anything, euthanasia, or conspiracy theories.

I think that's really interesting, but I'm not sure how you would argue about it
